PLIADES-Supported Research Wins Best Student Paper Award at ICAART 2025

We are delighted to announce that the paper “A Novel Vision Transformer for Camera-LiDAR Fusion Based Traffic Object Segmentation” has been awarded the Best Student Paper Award at the 17th International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence (ICAART 2025), held in Porto, Portugal. This recognition underscores the impact of cutting-edge research in AI and autonomous systems, with contributions from the EU Horizon Europe PLIADES project.

The paper introduces the Camera-LiDAR Fusion Transformer (CLFT), a novel deep learning model that leverages vision transformers and multimodal sensor fusion to enhance traffic object segmentation. The research demonstrates improvements in object classification for various categories, including cyclists, traffic signs, and pedestrians, adapting effectively to diverse weather conditions. While the model exhibits strong performance, ongoing research aims to address challenges in adverse conditions such as darkness and rain.
