We are pleased to announce the publication of the PLIADES Gender Equality Plan (GEP), a key milestone in our commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion across all project activities. The GEP has been developed by White Research, and has been reviewed by the PLIADES Ethics Advisory Board and the coordination team. Guided by the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) GEAR methodology, the GEP outlines strategic actions to ensure that gender considerations are embedded in the project’s research, AI development, data governance and engagement activities.
The plan aligns with the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 and the principles of Horizon Europe, reinforcing PLIADES’ dedication to creating a responsible, ethical, and gender-sensitive research environment. It sets clear objectives, including:
• Promoting gender balance in recruitment and leadership roles
• Addressing gender bias in AI systems and data-driven technologies
• Integrating gender perspectives in research methodologies
• Ensuring inclusive participation in events and decision-making processes
• Advancing the use of gender-sensitive language in all communications
The GEP is a living document and incorporates continuous monitoring and impact assessments to identify and address gender-related challenges throughout the data lifecycle and AI-based systems.
We invite all project partners, stakeholders, and the wider research community to engage with the PLIADES Gender Equality Plan and support its implementation to build a more inclusive, diverse, and resilient dataspace ecosystem!
